BIO / CONTACT

Alli Logout (they/them) is a Black, gender non-conforming filmmaker and performance artist whose work explores the South, the abject, and the body. They create cinematic social experiments with non-professional actors to author counter-narratives from within their own communities and subcultures. Their films center Blackness and Queerness in the South—its creation, its destruction, and its relentless reinvention. Through stories that are lived-in and confrontational, Logout proposes a new form of being, not as fantasy, but with feet firmly planted in the now.
Born in Texas, forged over a decade in New Orleans’ DIY underground, and now based in Los Angeles, Logout’s artistic language extends beyond film into music, songwriting, and performance. They are best known as the electrifying lead singer of Special Interest, gaining a reputation as an underground legend through raw, genre-breaking electro-punk vocals and audacious songwriting. Their sound has since expanded into dance, pop, R&B, and experimental electronic music.
Since relocating to LA in 2023, Logout has become an in-demand topliner, bringing sharp emotional clarity and fearless creative range to their collaborations. Their writing moves between abrasive and intimate—lyrics that cut through industrial noise, hooks that glide over glossy pop, and melodies that sit deep inside club-driven production. They have worked with Stuart Murdoch (Belle & Sebastian), Cole M.G.N (Beck, Carly Rae Jepsen, Blood Orange), Lecx Stacy (Eartheater, Jean Dawson), Margo XS (BANKS, Yunè Pinku), Dean Reid (Lana Del Rey, Marina), Kieran Watters (Dizzy Fae), Suicideyear, and Yves Rothman (Yves Tumor, Amaarae).
Logout’s films and performances have been screened nationally and internationally, including at SOMArts (San Francisco), BFI Flare (London), MIX NYC (New York), and the Korea Queer Culture Festival (Seoul). Their film Lucid Noon, Sunset Blush won Best Feminist Short at the Scottish Queer International Film Festival, and in 2020 they received the Barbara Hammer Lesbian Experimental Filmmaking Award. They are also the co-founder of Studio LaLaLa, a Black and trans-run production studio supporting underrepresented communities in telling their own stories.
Across film, songwriting, and performance, Logout’s work is unified by a singular force: an unapologetic, emotionally charged vision that cuts through genre, medium, and expectation.
